非核平和都市宣言

全世界の平和と安全は、全人類共通の念願でありよりよい生活を築き、守り維持していくための基本理念である。
しかるに、依然として核軍拡競争が続けられ、平和な社会の実現に脅威を与えているのみならず、人類の生存さえも危機におとしいれようとしている。わが国は、憲法で平和主義を堅持しており世界唯一の核被爆国として、その被害の恐ろしさ、被爆者の苦しみを全世界に向けて訴え核兵器の完全廃絶に積極的な役割りを果たさなければならない。
忠岡町は、平和を愛する人達の住む町として核兵器の廃絶、製造設備及び手段の廃棄を訴えて、ここに「非核平和都市」を宣言する。

DECLARATION OF A NON-NUCLEAR PEACEFUL CITY

The world's peace and safety are common desires of the human race as well as a basic idea necessary to secure and maintain a better life.

However, competition in the expansion of nuclear armaments still continues, which not only threatens the realization of a peaceful society, but also exposes even human existence to a crisis. Japan, as the only country in the world that has suffered from an atomic bomb attack and as a country whose constitution assures pacifism, ought to strongly appeal to the rest of the world by continually sharing the complete picture of the dreadful disaster and terrible suffering of the people who experienced the atomic bombs. Also, our country should take the initiative by persuading other countries of the necessity for comp ete disarmament of all nuclear weapons.

The town of Tadaoka where people love peace is appealing for the abolition of nuclear weapons and all the facilities for manufacturing them, and hereby declears itself a "non-nuclear peaceful city".
